Excited about his return to theatre since 2011, Cole expressed his eagerness to bring his character to life in the upcoming play.

The performance at Young Vic is scheduled from 27th November to 27th January.

Penned in 1964 by Pinter and premiered in 1965, “The Homecoming” chronicles the story of a family in London encompassing butchers and boxers. The plot thickens as the academic son Teddy returns from the US after a gap of six years, introducing his wife, unknown to his family, leading to a subsequent power play.

Last year, the play was showcased in Bath with Keith Allen in a distinct production. The narrative sheds light on diverse themes such as power dynamics, isolation, aggression, and multifaceted sexuality.

Cole, renowned for his role as John Shelby in “Peaky Blinders” and his presence in “Gangs of London,” will portray Lenny, while Harris will enact the character of Max.

Having earned a Bafta in 2020 for “Chernobyl,” Harris’s acting prowess is evident in series like “Mad Men” and “The Crown,” where he depicted King George VI. Both actors have garnered commendation for their recent performances.

Attributing his interest in the play to Pinter, Harris also lauded The Young Vic as a splendid venue.

Robert Emms, another actor from “Chernobyl,” will be seen in the play, accompanied by actress Lisa Diveney, who is keen on unraveling her character Ruth, who she considers a “Pinter puzzle.” Diveney describes Ruth as an enigmatic woman, hopeful that modern viewers will relate to her character.

Matthew Dunster, an Olivier Award nominee, will be directing the play. He has previously directed plays like “2:22 – A Ghost Story” and “The Pillowman.” Expressing his admiration for Pinter’s talent, Dunster spoke of his anticipation for directing “The Homecoming” at the Young Vic.
