A man was shocked to find out that the tattoo he got as a tribute to his favorite TV show had an unintended and unfortunate double meaning.

A man enthusiastically decided to immortalize his love for the TV show Psych, which aired from 2006 to 2014, by getting a tattoo on his calf. Little did he know that the pineapple design with the accompanying banner that read ‘I know you know’ held an unexpected and different meaning.

The comedy-drama featured Shawn Spencer, portrayed by James Roday Rodriguez, a detective adept at persuading others of his supposed psychic powers. The series became known for its quirky pineapple references, originating from Roday’s improvised scene with the fruit in the pilot episode. Dulé Hill, who portrayed Gus, shared that the impromptu scene showcased Roday’s ability to adapt to his surroundings. While initially a prop, the pineapple motif became a recurring element, making its way into nearly every episode.

Being a devoted fan of the show, the Reddit user naturally chose a pineapple as a tribute to Psych. However, there’s a catch—it carries an additional connotation. Specifically, an upside-down pineapple is symbolic in the swinging lifestyle. Allegedly, if you spot a pineapple outside a residence, it signals the presence of a ‘swinging party’ within.

Expressing the need to get rid of the tattoo and seeking cover-up suggestions, the Redditor explained: “In short, it’s a Psych reference that I adore. However, unbeknownst to me initially, it’s also unmistakably associated with the swinger lifestyle (Oops).

“Though I empathize with swingers, I’m not personally involved in that lifestyle. Any advice or ideas would be appreciated.”

Considering keeping the pineapple, but unfortunately, the words have to be removed. Some amusing suggestions included one person recommending adding “that I am not a swinger” at the bottom.

Another suggestion was added: “In all honesty, just throw in the word Psych! next to it. It’ll indicate you’re a fan of the show, and any swingers glancing at your calf will think they just got punked.”

Several people concurred that the quote adds a more suggestive tone, with one person remarking, “The quote just takes it to another level.”

Providing an update, the original poster stated, “Hey, it’s me, the OP. Thanks to my fellow Psych-O’s, I’ve decided not to cover it up. C’mon, son.”
