People have been sharing their travel woes, ranging from the discomfort of the dreaded middle seat to the collective outrage sparked by a woman using a flashing charger during a six-hour red-eye flight. As if that wasn’t bad enough, a recent incident takes the cake and escalates the conversation to a whole new level.

A SpiceJet traveler experienced a challenging flight when he found himself stuck in the lavatory for almost the entire duration. The incident involved an unidentified male passenger who remained trapped inside the airplane’s restroom for over an hour during Flight SG-268 on Tuesday (16 January). The flight, which departed from Mumbai airport at 2 am local time, was en route to Bengaluru, according to the Indian Express.

As soon as the seatbelt signs illuminated on the flight, the occupant of seat 14D promptly headed to the restroom. Little did they know, a nightmarish scenario awaited them as the door malfunctioned, leaving them trapped inside.

“In an unfortunate incident, a passenger found themselves stuck in the lavatory for approximately an hour,” stated the budget airline.

Despite concerted efforts from the crew and fellow passengers, all attempts to free the individual proved futile. Consequently, the passenger remained confined to the restroom during the landing of the commercial aircraft at Kempegowda International Airport.

The passenger, understandably distressed by the entire incident, received reassurance from flight attendants who slid a note under the door. The note has since gained widespread attention after the dramatic event.

“Despite our best efforts, we were unable to open the door, sir,” it commenced.

“Remain calm. Our landing is imminent, so please close the restroom lid, sit securely, and brace yourself. Once the main door is open, an engineer will promptly assist you. Please avoid any panic.”

True to these instructions, the plane landed, and two engineers arrived, swiftly breaking down the door upon landing.

Upon the passenger’s liberation from the restroom, immediate medical assistance was provided.

Following the passenger’s globally reported ordeal, the airline has issued a complete refund.

“SpiceJet expresses regret and extends apologies for the inconvenience caused to the passenger,” stated SpiceJet in an official release.

“The passenger will receive a full refund.”
