Tiger Woods still believes he can win on PGA Tour

Tiger Woods is confident in his ability to secure victories on the PGA Tour, despite recovering from ankle surgery, and plans to participate in only one event per month in 2024. The 15-time major champion, who has had a limited schedule due to a leg injury from a 2021 car crash, recently carded a final-round 61 alongside his 14-year-old son Charlie at the PNC Championship in Orlando.

Expressing optimism about his golfing capabilities, Woods stated, “If I’m able to practice and do the things I know I can do, and prepare, I know I can still do it. I can still hit the golf ball. It’s just a matter of prepping and getting enough reps in and being right physically, and the endurance capability of it.”

Acknowledging his recent challenges, Woods emphasized that he hasn’t been able to compete and play many rounds due to the lingering effects of his leg injury. Despite this, he highlighted his proficiency in various aspects of the game, stating, “I can still hit the golf ball. I can still chip. I can still putt. Granted, it’s also putting it all together for 72 holes. That’s the challenging part of it.”

Woods, whose last PGA Tour victory was at the 2019 Zozo Championship in Japan, equaling Sam Snead’s record of 82 Tour victories, made a comeback at the Hero World Challenge earlier this month after ankle fusion surgery. While his ankle is holding up well, he used a golf cart at the PNC Championship, which is not permitted on the PGA Tour.

The 47-year-old athlete expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play alongside his children at the PNC Championship, with his son Charlie and daughter Sam actively participating in the event. Looking ahead, Woods is determined to carefully manage his schedule as he continues his recovery journey and strives for success on the golf course.
