Shannen Doherty reveals cancer has spread to her bones

Shannen Doherty has affirmed her commitment to facing stage four breast cancer, now affecting her bones. In an interview with People magazine, the 52-year-old Beverly Hills 90210 actress expressed her determination to continue treatment, emphasizing that she is not done with living, loving, or creating.

Doherty has openly shared her health struggles since her breast cancer diagnosis in 2015. Following a mastectomy in 2016, she underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy, announcing remission in 2017. However, in February 2020, she revealed the return of stage 4 breast cancer, now metastasized.

In a recent Instagram video, Doherty disclosed that the cancer has spread to her brain and is terminal. Despite the challenging situation, she remains optimistic, exploring new treatments and clinical trials, believing her greatest memories are yet to come.

Originally from Tennessee, Doherty has had a prolific career in television and film, featuring in productions like Little House on the Prairie, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Our House, and Heathers. She reprised her role as Brenda Walsh in the 2019 Beverly Hills 90210 reboot.

Challenging misconceptions about terminal illness, Doherty emphasized that people often assume it means the end of functioning, work, and vitality. Rejecting such assumptions, she highlighted the resilience and forward-looking outlook of individuals facing health challenges.
