A tragic crash occurred during a supercar tour in South Sardinia, Italy, when a couple’s Ferrari collided with a Lamborghini while attempting to overtake a campervan. The ensuing accident caused the campervan to topple over.
The incident took place on the 195 Sulcitana state road in San Giovanni Suergiu. Shortly after the collision, the Ferrari caught fire, leading to the unfortunate deaths of the Swiss couple inside, aged 63 and 67. Additionally, a couple from Selva di Val Gardena in the campervan suffered injuries and were rushed to the hospital. An Indian couple in the Lamborghini also sustained injuries.
Lorenzo M, who was in the campervan, described the harrowing experience, saying it felt like “hell” after escaping the overturned vehicle.
Eyewitness videos and images depict the catastrophic aftermath with ruined supercars, bystanders, and first responders at the scene.
Reports suggest that the luxury vehicles were participating in the Sardinia Supercar Experience event. This event involves participants driving luxury cars like Ferraris and Lamborghinis across Sardinia, enjoying scenic viewpoints, and staying in upscale hotels. Depending on the package, the cost of this experience can range from £10,409 to £21,515.
Authorities have since seized the remains of the vehicles involved, and investigations into the crash are ongoing.
