For the 2024 season, the Swiss Sauber team has returned to its original name after racing as Alfa Romeo since 2019. The naming rights deal with Alfa Romeo concludes this year as Sauber prepares for its transition into the factory Audi team in 2026. Audi’s official association with the team will begin when they formally enter the championship. The team’s new official name is Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber, and the chassis will be referred to as a Kick Sauber. Sauber, which entered F1 in 1993, had raced under its own name until the rebranding as Alfa Romeo in 2019.
Despite the name change, Sauber will continue using Ferrari engines until 2026. Audi is developing its engine for the new regulations that will come into effect in two years, featuring fully sustainable net-zero carbon synthetic e-fuels and a significantly higher proportion of hybrid power from the engineāup to approximately 50% compared to the current 20%.
The Red Bull junior team, Alpha Tauri, has retained its name for the 2024 season, with a slight adjustment by adding the letters ‘RB’ as a suffix.
The 2024 Formula 1 season will see no driver changes between the last race of the previous season and the first of the next. The full 2024 Formula 1 entry list includes teams and drivers such as Red Bull, Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin, Alpine, Williams, Alpha Tauri, Sauber, and Haas, featuring notable drivers like Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and more.
