Sara Sharif’s father, Urfan Sharif, 41, his partner, Beinash Batool, 29, and brother, Faisal Malik, 28, appeared in Guilford Magistrates Court today, charged with the murder of the ten-year-old. Sara’s body was discovered last month in her Woking home, showing extensive injuries. The trio was apprehended at Gatwick Airport on September 13 upon their return from Dubai. They had spent the past month in Pakistan.
All three, dressed in varied attire, stood flanked by dock officers as charges were read. The charges detailed their alleged failure to protect Sara from serious harm. Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram remanded them into custody until their next appearance at the Old Bailey.
Interestingly, a day before Sara’s discovery, the three, along with five children, had flown to Pakistan and remained untraceable for a month. They returned to the UK via a luxurious business class flight from Dubai. Safeer Malik, a relative, had booked their return tickets.
Sara’s devastated mother, Olga Sharif, described her late daughter as joyous and lamented her irreplaceable loss. Sara had attended St Mary’s Church of England primary school in Byfleet, where the school headteacher remembered her fondly.
The tragic incident has deeply impacted the local community, with authorities expressing their condolences and assuring a comprehensive investigation into Sara’s untimely demise.
