The foreign leaders of arch-rivals Iran and Saudi Arabia have met for the first time since 2016.
Saudi Arabia’s al-Ekhbariya TV broadcast a short video showing Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Hussein Amir Abdul-Rashian greeting each other in China.
The two countries also agreed to develop diplomatic relations during the talks held in China last month.
Saudi Arabia broke off relations with Saudi Arabia in 2016 after a large crowd attacked the Saudi Embassy in Tehran.
This came after a prominent Shiite Muslim cleric was killed in Riyadh.
Tensions between Sunni-led Saudi Arabia and Shia-led Iran have escalated since then.
They see each other as a threat to the forces trying to control the region. They also support candidates in the Middle East, including Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and most importantly Yemen.
While Iran supported the Shiite Houthi rebels who overthrew the Saudi-backed government in 2014, Saudi Arabia launched a fierce campaign against the Houthis the following year.
Saudi Arabia also accused Iran of helping the Houthis kill him.
