The LSU Tigers defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 102-85 on Sunday to claim the program’s first NCAA women’s basketball national title in Dallas, Texas.
LSU shot 58% from the field in the first half, including 75% from 3-point range.
The Tigers’ 59 first-half points set a new Women’s Championship halftime record and gave LSU a 17-point lead heading into the locker room.
The Tigers offense was on fire in the first half, with Jasmine Carson coming off the bench and scoring 21 first-half points for LSU, including all five three-pointers. Carson led the Tigers with 22 points.

GSU’s 102 points also set a new record for most points scored by a Women’s Championship team.
Iowa State star Caitlin Clark led all game scorers with 30 points, setting a record for most points scored in a women’s tournament with 191 points. The 2023 National Team Player of the Year broke the previous women’s tournament points record of 177 points set by Sheryl Swoopes for Texas Tech in 1993.
Swoopes set a record five games to Clarke’s total of six.
