As of Sunday, he faces a renewed setback, prompting concern from Garraway’s co-stars on ITV’s Good Morning Britain. During Monday’s broadcast, Charlotte Hawkins provided an update, stating that Derek is currently in a “very serious condition.”
Co-host Richard Madeley expressed solidarity, conveying heartfelt wishes to Derek, Kate, and their family during this challenging time. In April 2021, Garraway shared that Draper had returned home after over a year in the hospital, emphasizing the need for continuous 24-hour care. The family’s journey, marked by the complexities of Derek’s rare condition, was documented in the award-winning ITV documentary “Finding Derek,” shedding light on the impact on their children, Darcey and Billy. The program received a National Television Award in September.
