Jay Williams shares high praise of Iowa star Caitlin Clark

March Madness turns into Clark Madness on Sunday.

Iowa rising star Kaitlyn Clark had a historic triple-double in Sunday’s Elite Eight game against Louisville with 41 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. It was the first time a male or female player had scored more than 30 points in a triple-double in an NCAA tournament game, giving his Hawkeyes their first Final Four appearance since 1993.

The Show Sunday in Seattle was Clarke’s latest showcase of talent. She ranks third in the nation in points per game (27.3) and first in assists (8.6) In the eyes of ESPN’s Jay Williams, Clarke stands out in college sports – on and off the field.

“I firmly believe she is the biggest brand in college sports right now,” Williams said Monday morning on “First Take.”

Williams went on to praise Clark, putting her in the same sentence as the two basketball legends.

“Everything you see on her has a similar style, right?” Williams said. “It’s a mantra you hear from someone like Kobe Bryant. You see Sue Bird in a game where she’s almost in awe.
I firmly believe that at the end of the day, she is the biggest brand in college sports right now. “

Triple-doubles, iconic 3-pointers and cool celebrations helped Clarks shine on social media. Besides being a hit machine, she has over 226,000 followers on Instagram and 48,000 on Twitter.

Clark will be the face of college sports for another year. She won’t be eligible for the WNBA draft until 2024, which means she’ll be at Iowa State for at least one more season before reaching the pro level.
