The World Food Programme (WFP) has sounded the alarm, stating that Gaza might deplete its vital food reserves in a few days. Abeer Etefa, a spokesperson for the organization, mentioned that the local stores in the Strip are left with essential food supplies that can last merely four or five days. While food provisions to sustain for two weeks are stored in warehouses surrounding Gaza, a large chunk of it is situated in Gaza City. This city is currently facing evacuation orders from Israel, and the situation is further exacerbated by ongoing airstrikes.
The ongoing bombardments have severely hindered WFP’s ability to distribute food to the stores. This has led to extended queues forming outside the limited number of bakeries still in operation.
Meanwhile, Ali Fadavi, the deputy commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has issued a warning. He stated that if Israeli forces do not cease their “atrocities” in Gaza, a significant retaliation might ensue. Fadavi’s statement seems to indicate Hezbollah, a militia group based in southern Lebanon backed and armed by Iran. Over the past nine days and especially this morning, there have been reports of skirmishes between Hezbollah and Israeli forces in Israel’s northern areas.
