Haitian Singer, Mikaben died in Paris during a performance on-stage

According to Guardian, 41 years old Haitian singer Mikaben, AKA. Michael Benjamin died from a suspicious cardiac arrest or heart attack on Saturday after suddenly collapsing onstage during a performance in Paris.

He was performing as a guest of Haitian konpa group CaRiMi at the 20,000-seat Accor Arena when social media footage showed him attempting to walk offstage and collapsing.

The venue tweeted on Sunday that Mikaben was “unwell on stage and died despite the intervention of emergency services,” according to a translation of Twitter on Sunday.

His website shows him as an astonishing and rare artist in every genre, from zouk to Jamaican reggae and R&B. Born in 1981 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, he spoke four languages ​​and played several instruments.

Mikaben started singing when he was 15 but later established himself as a performer in Montreal during his studies. He began touring Canadian music festivals in the mid-2000s, but after the 2010 earthquake, he traveled to Haiti with the evocative song “Yon Ti Souf You Ayiti” (or “A Little Breath for Haiti”).
