Amani Oruwariye, a cornerback on the New York Giants’ practice squad, was reportedly taken off the practice field on a backboard and transported to a local hospital by ambulance on Wednesday.
Observers noted that Oruwariye was able to move his arms as he was being taken away, and the ambulance left the facility with its lights flashing. The incident occurred during kickoff drills, resulting in Oruwariye being down for several minutes before being removed from the field.
Oruwariye, 27, is currently in his fifth NFL season, previously playing for the Detroit Lions for four years with 36 starts. He joined the Giants as a free agent during the offseason, was cut at the end of the preseason, and later re-signed to the practice squad.
