Friends Issue Warning About Hammer Killer’s Release

Hammer Killer’s

In July 2007, Joanna Simpson, a dear friend of Belinda Skudder, made a terrified phone call to Belinda, asking for her help. Joanna revealed that her husband, Robert Brown, had threatened her life with a knife. Despite Joanna managing to talk him down during that incident, the threats and danger persisted in her relationship with Brown.

Three years later, in October 2010, Brown killed Joanna in a brutal hammer attack, witnessed by their children. He buried her in a makeshift coffin in Windsor Great Park. Shockingly, Brown was acquitted of murder and sentenced to 26 years for manslaughter. Now, after serving just 13 years in prison, he is set for release in November, causing immense distress to Joanna’s family and friends. They are pleading with the Justice Secretary to keep him behind bars, as they consider him a dangerous psychopath who poses a significant threat to society.

Joanna Simpson’s friends, Belinda Skudder, Amanda Key, and Hetti Barkworth-Nanton, are passionately advocating for Brown to remain incarcerated. Hetti, a company CEO, and chair of Refuge, set up the Joanna Simpson Foundation to support child victims of domestic abuse. They believe that Brown, who has been assessed as a “critical public protection case,” requires specialized management and additional resources if released. However, concerns arise as the probation service is reported to be understaffed, undertrained, and overwhelmed, potentially jeopardizing public safety.

Joanna Simpson is remembered as a loving mother and a wonderful friend who left an indelible mark on the lives of her loved ones. Her friends describe her as kind, selfless, and a perfect hostess. They believe her reputation was unfairly tarnished during Brown’s trial, where he manipulated the jury into believing false allegations against her. The friends are determined to protect Joanna’s memory and advocate for justice.

Alex and Katie, Joanna’s children, were denied the opportunity to grow up with their loving mother due to Brown’s heinous act. Joanna’s friends, appalled by the prospect of his release, emphasize the need to ensure he remains behind bars for the safety of all women and the community.
