Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have expressed their apologies for any pain or trauma caused by the character letters they wrote in support of their “That ’70s Show” co-star Danny Masterson, who was recently sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for sexual assault.
In a video shared on Ashton Kutcher’s Instagram account, the couple explained the circumstances surrounding the letters. They mentioned that Masterson’s family had approached them after his conviction and requested character letters based on their 25-year acquaintance with him.
Kutcher clarified that these letters were not intended to challenge the legal system or undermine the testimony of the victims. Mila Kunis emphasized their support for victims of sexual assault and their commitment to continuing this support in the future.
The couple extended their sympathy to anyone who has experienced sexual assault, abuse, or rape. Danny Masterson, known for his role in “That ’70s Show,” received the maximum allowable sentence from the court after being found guilty of drugging and raping two women in 2003.
Kutcher’s letter, dated July 27, 2023, portrayed Masterson as a person who treated others with decency, equality, and generosity. Kunis described Masterson as an outstanding role model, friend, and exceptional older brother figure in her letter.
This news piece addresses the couple’s response to the controversy surrounding the character letters they wrote for their former co-star and the sentencing of Danny Masterson.
