According to NBC News, Justin Mohn, aged 32, has been accused by police of killing his father, Michael Mohn.

Mohn was apprehended approximately 100 miles away from where the crime occurred and is facing charges of first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and possessing a weapon with criminal intent, as per a court docket released early Wednesday.

At 4 a.m., he was brought before court for arraignment and was denied bail, as stated by Middletown Township Police Capt. Pete Feeney.

In a police complaint referencing a YouTube video titled “Mohn’s Militia – Call To Arms For American Patriots,” Mohn is depicted wearing gloves while holding his father’s head in a plastic bag. Later in the video, the head is seen in a cooking pot.

Mohn describes his father, who served as a federal employee for two decades, as a traitor, and calls for the demise of all federal officials. He also criticizes President Joe Biden’s administration, the Black Lives Matter movement, the LGBTQ community, and antifa activists. YouTube removed the video, which was over 14 minutes long, shortly after its posting.

According to a spokesperson from YouTube, the video was removed due to its infringement of the platform’s stringent guidelines against graphic violence and violent extremism.

“The video was taken down for breaching our policy on graphic violence, leading to the termination of Justin Mohn’s channel as per our policies on violent extremism. Our teams are actively monitoring to swiftly remove any attempts to re-upload the video,” the statement emphasized.

Mohn has initiated legal action against federal agencies, including the U.S. government, alleging they negligently influenced him to take out student loans from 2010 until his graduation from Pennsylvania State University in 2014, according to a court filing.

He paid a $2,000 filing fee and, following the dismissal of his claims, he attempted to have the judge recused from the case, citing personal bias and conflicting financial interests.

The judge, in a legal opinion, deemed Mohn’s accusations as “entirely speculative and lacking factual basis” and characterized his grievances as “inaccurate allegations from a disillusioned college graduate.”

Mohn also sued his former employer, Progressive Insurance, in 2020, alleging wrongful termination and gender discrimination against men. Court records reveal he was employed as a customer service representative from October 2016 until his termination in August 2017 for forcibly opening the facility’s doors.

A district court ruled against Mohn, finding insufficient evidence of discrimination.

During the lawsuit process, Mohn disclosed receiving approximately $540 monthly from his parents. He also embarked on a trip to Las Vegas shortly before his termination from Progressive, purportedly to explore opportunities for a music career.

Representing himself in the legal proceedings, Mohn maintained a notable presence on social media platforms, where he promoted his independently released music and dystopian science fiction books.

One of his nonfiction works, “The Revolution Leader’s Survival Guide,” published on Amazon in 2017, features a letter transcript addressed to then-President Donald Trump, cautioning of a potential “peaceful revolution led by the author” if substantive changes were not implemented in America and worldwide.

Denice Mohn, the suspect’s mother, discovered her husband’s body and promptly alerted the authorities around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Upon police arrival at their residence in Middletown Township, they discovered Michael Mohn in a downstairs bathroom, having been decapitated, with a significant amount of blood present, as detailed in a police complaint. A machete and a large kitchen knife were recovered from the bathtub.

Further investigation led to the discovery of Michael Mohn’s head inside a plastic bag within a cooking pot in an adjacent bedroom. Additionally, bloody, clear rubber gloves were found in another bedroom, resembling those worn by the suspect in a YouTube video.

Denice Mohn informed the police that she had been at home until 2 p.m. and that her son was the only person present with his father. Upon her return later that evening, just before contacting the authorities, she discovered her son missing along with her husband’s car, which had been parked in the driveway.

Subsequently, police intercepted Mohn in Fort Indiantown Gap, approximately 100 miles from the initial location, driving the vehicle reported missing from the family residence. Fort Indiantown Gap, situated near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, houses a National Guard training facility.

According to Feeney, law enforcement officials were unaware of Mohn’s destination or intentions upon departure from the residence. However, they were able to track his location through his cellphone signal.

The phone’s signal indicated proximity to the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery and later outside the National Guard base, where Mohn was discovered outside the perimeter with the vehicle, as reported by Angela Watson of Pennsylvania’s Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, which supervises the National Guard.

Mohn had trespassed onto the base after scaling a fence, as reported.

Both the National Guard and the Pennsylvania State Police were enlisted to aid in locating Mohn, and he was apprehended “without incident” around 9:25 p.m., confirmed Watson, adding that Mohn was “armed with a firearm.” Fortunately, no injuries were reported during his presence on the base.

Detective Lt. Stephen Forman of Middletown Township Police noted that there had been previous encounters with the suspect, some dating back a decade, and others more recent.
