While on his way to a club performance in the Argentinian resort city of Mar Del Plata, Black Coffee experienced an incident that resulted in his admission to the hospital. Described as “severe” by his management team, the incident left the DJ with injuries. Mute, the club where he was scheduled to perform, stated that he had “suffered severe blows to his body,” according to local media.

The emergency landing of Black Coffee’s plane, which was en route from the Brazilian city of Florianopolis on Sunday, took place at an airport in Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo. Despite the challenges, Black Coffee’s team reported on Wednesday that he is optimistic and recovering well.

Concerns have been voiced by thousands of South Africans regarding the incident, yet there is a widespread show of support for the artist on various social media platforms.

Sport, Arts, and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa conveyed his well-wishes to Black Coffee, expressing hope for his swift recovery. “You have made significant contributions to uplifting South African music and showcasing it globally,” Kodwa stated on X.

Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, the 47-year-old artist known by his stage name Black Coffee, stands as one of Africa’s most accomplished entertainers.
