Brandon Maseuli and Yousef Rima, identified as members of an international criminal syndicate originating in Lebanon, were arrested in Sydney on Thursday. The syndicate, known for undertaking violent contracts such as murders and kidnappings, has ties to a broader criminal network in the city. The charges against Maseuli, 26, and Rima, 20, include conspiracy to murder, kidnapping, directing a criminal group, as well as drug and robbery-related offenses. Authorities are also seeking an arrest warrant for a 22-year-old man believed to be offshore.

The duo allegedly conspired to murder four high-profile individuals from Sydney’s northwest, specifically members of the drill rap group OneFour: Jerome “J Emz” Misa, Pio “YP” Misa, Spencer “Spenny” Magalogo, and Dahcell “Celly” Ramos. The motive behind the plot is unclear, and it appears that the fifth member, Salec “Lekks” Su’a, was not targeted. The conflict between OneFour and the group that supposedly hired the criminal syndicate’s Sydney cell reportedly triggered the plot, according to police sources.

The investigation into the Sydney cell, of which Maseuli and Rima are part, uncovered the alleged plot against OneFour members. This broader inquiry is also linked to multiple kidnappings, including one involving a substantial amount of cocaine. The suspects appeared before the Liverpool Local Court on Thursday and were denied bail. OneFour, a prominent Australian rap group, has previously faced issues with law enforcement due to their music’s dark themes and violent lyrics, which authorities argue may incite violence. In 2019, the group had to cancel a national tour due to police expressing safety concerns.
