In his first interview since he was convicted guilty of assault, the Marvel actor says he was “shocked” by the verdict.

The actor, currently awaiting sentencing following a New York jury’s recent conviction for assaulting British choreographer Grace Jabbari, expressed his confusion regarding the incident.

Speaking to ABC News, he described his disbelief upon hearing the verdict, questioning its plausibility given the evidence presented by both the prosecution and the defense. He conveyed this sentiment during an interview on Good Morning America aired on Monday.

Expressing intentions to appeal the conviction on charges of third-degree assault and second-degree harassment, he was acquitted of two other charges—assault and aggravated harassment—in a divided decision.

Following the conviction, the Emmy-nominated actor was released from his association with Marvel Studios, where he had appeared in various films and TV shows. The impending sentencing, scheduled for February, could lead to a potential one-year prison term.

The altercation occurred while Majors and Ms. Jabbari were in a car in New York, where she noticed a text message on Majors’ phone from another woman expressing a desire to be kissing him at that moment.

Prosecutors allege that during the incident involving the phone, Majors allegedly seized it and engaged in physical altercation, twisting her arm and striking her head to retrieve it.

As a result, Ms. Jabbari sustained injuries including a fractured finger, bruising, and a cut behind her ear.

Majors has refuted accusations of assaulting Ms. Jabbari and has instead pressed charges against her, asserting that she was the aggressor. However, prosecutors deemed his claims lacking credibility.

Majors informed ABC that he was unaware of how Ms. Jabbari sustained injuries during the confrontation.

He expressed a deep desire for clarity and peace, wishing he had knowledge of the situation. Emphasizing his identity as an athlete, he adamantly asserted that he had never physically harmed a woman, understanding his body’s capabilities and denying any use of force on her.

Responding to his recent statements, the attorney for Ms. Jabbari criticized Majors for evading responsibility and lacking remorse for his actions, suggesting that his lack of regret could influence the court’s sentencing decisions.

In an emotional moment, Majors tearfully mentioned the heartbreaking inability to see his daughter due to the conviction. He also shared the profound impact of losing his role in the Marvel franchise, describing the abrupt halt to his hard-earned accomplishments.

Despite these setbacks, Majors remained hopeful about returning to Hollywood, expressing his prayer and belief in a potential comeback.
