A new immersive show will utilize AI to bring Elvis Presley to life through holographic projections and thousands of photos and home-videos.
A new show features holographic projections of the rock star Elvis Presley as well as thousands of photos and home-videos.
Scheduled to debut in London in November and subsequently traveling to Las Vegas, Berlin, and Tokyo, the upcoming show follows the triumph of Abba Voyage, a virtual concert spotlighting avatars of the iconic Swedish pop band. Layered Reality, renowned specialists in immersive entertainment based in Britain, have secured the worldwide rights for Elvis Evolution. Notable for their previous creations such as The Gunpowder Plot and The War of The Worlds, the company vows that the Presley showcase will deliver an awe-inspiring concert experience. They promise audiences a life-sized digital rendition of Elvis, performing pivotal moments in musical history live on a UK stage, marking a historic first.
Andrew McGuinness, the CEO of Layered Reality, described the upcoming show as a cutting-edge homage to the iconic musician Elvis Presley, offering participants a chance to immerse themselves in his world. Incorporating AI, holographic projection, augmented reality, live theater, and multi-sensory effects, the show will showcase a life-sized digital rendition of Presley.
McGuinness emphasized that this experience would provide a profound understanding of Elvis’s life, transporting fans back in time to witness his rapid ascent to stardom, his larger-than-life personality, and the cultural impact he made in the 1950s and 1960s. While the central London location for the show is pending confirmation, it is set to include an Elvis-themed bar and restaurant featuring live music.
Elvis Presley, renowned for hits like “Hound Dog” and “Suspicious Minds,” achieved fame in the 1950s and passed away in 1977 at the age of 42. In 2018, he was posthumously honored with the US Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian recognition bestowed by a sitting president.
Baz Luhrmann directed a film about Presley’s life in 2022, with actor Austin Butler winning a Bafta Film Award for portraying the singer. Additionally, the UK released another movie titled “Priscilla” this week, exploring the relationship between Elvis and his former wife, Priscilla Presley.
Virtual concerts and events have surged in popularity following the launch of Abba Voyage in London in May 2022. This concert brings to life a digital rendition of the 1970s-era singers, performing in a purpose-built 3,000-capacity arena in east London. Crafted by a team of 1,000 visual effects artists, the avatars required one billion computing hours to animate. Generating an estimated £2 million per week, this spectacle has contributed a substantial £322.6 million to the London economy since its inception.
In a similar vein, rock band Kiss concluded their final farewell concert in New York with airborne avatars, performing their hit song “God Gave Rock ‘n’ Roll to You.” Gene Simmons attributed the everlasting youth and iconic status of the band to these characters, created using the technology showcased in Abba Voyage.
