In response, the Sesame Street character has expressed gratitude for the responses, stating he’s “glad he asked,” and shared the hashtag “#EmotionalWellBeing”.

President Joe Biden echoed Elmo’s sentiment, stating, “Our friend Elmo is correct: We must support one another.”

It all started with a simple inquiry from the cherished children’s TV character on Monday morning.

“Elmo is just checking in! How is everybody doing?” he queried on X.

“The internet collectively experiences a meltdown.

“Elmo, I’m engulfed in existential dread,” expressed one user.

“Each morning, I eagerly anticipate returning to slumber. Every Monday feels like an eternity until Friday arrives,” penned another.

“The world is ablaze, Elmo,” lamented YouTuber Steven McInerney.”

Celebrities like actress Rachel Zegler chimed in, expressing her restraint from sharing her sadness with Elmo. The timing of Elmo’s inquiry may have contributed to the situation. Asking such a question on a Monday morning in January, towards the end of a seemingly endless month, was unlikely to yield positive responses.

However, the beloved red-haired Muppet remained undeterred by the outpouring of troubles directed at him. Taking to X on Tuesday night, Elmo remarked, “Wow! Elmo is glad he asked! Elmo learned that it is important to ask a friend how they are doing. Elmo will check in again soon, friends! Elmo loves you. #EmotionalWellBeing.”

Other Sesame Street characters rallied to support their friend. The Cookie Monster assured, “Me here to talk it out whenever you want. Me will also supply cookies. #EmotionalWellBeing.” Bert, Ernie’s close companion, offered, “I’m here if you ever need a shoulder to lean on. I’ll make us both a warm cup of tea.”

Sesame Street itself got involved by sharing mental health resource links on its official X account. President Biden commended Elmo’s efforts to promote emotional well-being, emphasizing the importance of being there for one another and seeking help when needed.

“I know how hard it is some days to sweep the clouds away and get to sunnier days,” the president wrote on X. “We have to be there for each other, offer our help to a neighbor in need, and above all else, ask for help when we need it. Even though it’s hard, you’re never alone.”

The muppet says he’s glad he asked how people are, after internet users offloaded their angst onto him.
