Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the fourth richest man in the world, plans to donate most of his fortune during his lifetime.
Bezos told CNN he would use the money to fight climate change and help those who can unite humanity in the face of deep social and political divisions.
In light of the details, the pledge marks the first time he has announced plans to donate most of his money.Critics lashed out at Bezos for not signing the Giving Pledge.
As of Monday, the tycoon had a net worth of $123.9 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Former Fox L.A. TV host-turned-philanthropist Lauren Sanchez said, along with his partner, the couple are “building the capacity to donate that money.”
Asked directly by the outlet if he planned to donate most of his fortune while he was still alive, Bezos replied, “Yes, I do.”

Bezos said he arranged his first interview with Sanchez together since they started dating in 2019.
The award includes a $100 million donation to the charity of the country music legend and philanthropist’s choice.
“Did you say $100 million dollars?” a wowed Parton asked as she joined Bezos and his partner Lauren Sanchez to accept the honor on Friday.
Past winners include Spanish chef Jose Andrés and CNN host Van Jones.
Most recently, Parton donated $1 million to fund research to develop a cure for COVID-19.
